Nate Warren

"What's so special about math? How could someone actually enjoy it? It's just memorization and voodoo!"

Well, yes, that can be how math is taught. And as someone who has experienced this, I completely agree. Learning math in this way is not fun.

Math is something to be understood, not a tool that magically produces answers. School teachers lay the bricks in which a student learns how to use math; I provide the grout that my students need to understand math.

And I'm not just teaching math — I'm giving my students the confidence and the drive to ask why and how. These are the paramount questions for becoming a critical thinker in any field.

I have learned not to take glory in the difficulty of a proof: difficulty means we have not understood. The idea is to be able to paint a landscape in which the proof is obvious.

Subjects

SAT Math

College is approaching? Solidify your math foundation to get the score you want!

Geometry

Geometry covers angles, triangles, circles, and introduces formal proofs. Get ready to show your work!

Algebra

Some of the most foundational math that introduces variables. Variables are so misunderstood! They are your friend, not the boogeyman.

Precalculus

Diving deeper into functions, graphs, translations, and trigonometry, precalculus bridges geometry and algebra to prepare students for calculus!

Calculus 1, 2, 3

This is where I found math went from interesting to exciting! From limits and derivatives to integrals and infinite series, calculus explains how and why the world changes.

Linear Algebra

Linear algebra uses vectors, matrices, and vector spaces, which have lots of cool applications like computer graphics, data science, and machine learning.

Location

I often tutor online, but if you are in the NYC area we can find a place to meet for in-person tutoring!

Pricing

My goal is to be accessible to as many people as possible. My standard rate is $100/hour. However, If that would be a financial hardship for your family, we can work together to find something that works for everyone. Reach out to me below!
